Astrid Lindgren Remembered

Did you know that the Swedish government has established the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award for Literature in memory of the popular Swedish author. Astrid Lindgren, author of the Pippi Longstocking and other children's books, died Jan. 28, 2002. According to the chairman of the Award jury, the Award was established "to honor her [Lindgren's] memory and to generate international publicity about literature for children and young - thereby promoting in a global context the right of all children to experience literature and culture."
