Successful Author/Illustrator Visits

Tuesday September 16, 2003
There is always great excitement in our community when a children's author or illustrator comes for a visit. Later this month, Wichita school children are looking forward to meeting Lane Smith, illustrator of numerous children's books, including The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales by Jon Scieszka. Hearing about his visit got me thinking about all of the planning involved.

It takes careful planning and more time than you might think to arrange a successful author or illustrator visit to your school or library. Have you done it? Do you have some advice to share? Are there authors you think are terrific at such visits, and others you think are terrible? Share your opinions by posting on the About Children's Books Forum. Thanks. recall recall
