"The most borrowed author in UK libraries"

Saturday February 14, 2004
No, it's not J.K. Rowling. It's Jacqueline Wilson, the author of just under 70 books for children. According to the Kids at Random House UK website, "Jacqueline Wilson has sold millions of books, her total stands at over 15 million in the UK alone." Many of her books are available in the United States.

According to today's Guardian Unlimited article by Claire Armitstead, "She writes cosy stories for children as young as seven or eight, and much darker books for older readers." BBC News reports, "Wilson's books are far from fantasy, often dealing with gritty social subjects including divorce, bereavement and children in care." Her books include "The Story of Tracy Beaker," "The Suitcase Kid," "The Illustrated Mum," and "Vicky Angel." recall recall
