What are the bestselling children’s books at independent bookstores across the country? The top five books on the Book Sense children’s fiction bestseller list for the week ending February 15, 2004, are “Eragon” by Christopher Paolini (see my blog), “The Tale of Despereaux” by Kate DiCamillo, “Junie B. Jones and the Mushy Gushy Valentine” by Barbara Park, “The Thief Lord” by Cornelia Funke, and “Ink Heart” by Cornelia Funke. The top five books on the Book Sense children’s illustrated books bestseller list are “Snuggle Puppy,” which was written and illustrated by Sandra Boynton, “ Tails” by Matthew Van Fleet, “Goodnight Moon” by Margaret Wise Brown, with illustrations by Clement Hurd, “Lily’s Chocolate Heart,” which was written and illustrated by Kevin Henkes, and “How I Became a Pirate” by Melinda Long, with illustrations by David Shannon. recall recall
