Jim Trelease, the author of "The Read-Aloud Handbook," is a strong literacy advocate. According to an article in the Redlands Daily News, Trelease feels that both the Oprah Winfrey Book Club and Harry Potter fan clubs have had a major impact in terms of motivating people to read.

I am a teacher at the 6th grade level and in the need of finding some sort of program or ideas to get my parents involved as literacy partners. If you could direct or theow any ideas my way I would really appriciate any information. Thank you very much for your time and effort in this matter.
