"Never Mind!" A Novel about Twins
Wednesday July 7, 2004
I just finished reading "Never Mind!," a funny, yet thought provoking, novel about twins Edward and Meg. The book alternates between first person accounts by Edward, written by Newbery Medal winner Avi, and first person accounts by Meg, written by Rachel Vail. The twins are very differrent from one another and don't get along. Entering seventh grade, they are going to different schools. When a mixup results in Meg's new school friends thinking her brother is a talented musician with a band, her parents thinking she has a boyfriend, and her brother plotting to get back at her, tension mounts. Yet all's well that ends well when the affection that the twins actually feel for one another saves the day. I recommend "Never Mind!" for 10-12 year olds. It was published by HarperCollins in 2004.
