Molly Bang's "Picture This, How Pictures Work"

Monday September 20, 2004
Molly Bang's "Picture This, How Pictures Work" (see my review) is a fascinating book. "Picture This" grew out of the artist's desire to understand one question: "How does the structure of a picture affect our emotional response?" The book for 9-12 year olds and up reads like a detective story as Bang investigates this question through the process of developing cut paper abstract illustrations for "Little Red Riding Hood."

Do you and/or your children have a favorite children's book illustrator? If so, join the discussion on the About Children's Books Forum; share what you particularly like about the illustrations and recommend some of the books that s/he has illustrated.
