Award Established in Honor of Dr. Seuss

Saturday January 15, 2005
I was delighted to learn that a new children's book award has been established in honor of Theodor Seuss Geisel. According to the press release from the American Library Association (ALA),
The Theodor Seuss Geisel Award will be presented annually to both the author(s) and illustrator(s) of an outstanding book for beginning readers published in the past calendar year.
The award was established by The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the ALA. THe first award will be announced in January 2006. If you're like me, you grew up with Dr. Seuss and now you are sharing Dr. Seuss books with your children.

What are your family's favorite Dr. Seuss books? Let me know by joining the discussion on the About Children's Books Forum, our community bulletin board.
