Resources for Teaching “Because of Winn-Dixie”

"Because of Winn-Dixie," a 2001 Newbery Honor Book by Kate DiCamillo, is a terrific novel for 9-12 year olds. The producer of the new movie version, Walden Media, has developed a 20-page Activity Guide for teachers that you can download. It “...complies with national standards in Language Arts, Social Studies, Visual Arts and Character Education...” Walden Media has also set up a discussion board for teachers who plan to teach “Because of Winn-Dixie” using both the book and the movie. The movie opens on February 18, 2005.
