In Memory of Rosa Parks - "Let It Shine: Stories of Black Women Freedom Fighters"

Tuesday October 25, 2005
Let It ShineI was sorry to read about the death of Rosa Parks, a pioneer in the Civil Rights movement. Nine- to 14-year-olds can learn more about Rosa Parks and nine other women who made a difference by reading "Let It Shine: Stories of Black Women Freedom Fighters." This excellent nonfiction children's book was written by Andrea Davis Pinkney and illustrated with the dramatic paintings of Stephen Alcorn. See my African American Freedom Fighters directory for information about others who made a difference.
