In Praise of Audiobooks for Children

Sunday July 2, 2006
The Frogs Wore Red Suspenders cover art If you are planning a vacation that involves a long trip, be sure to take along audiobooks. The time will fly as your children enjoy audio versions of children's books, but listening to an audiobook is not just an enjoyable activity. Children also receive a number of other benefits from listening to children's audiobooks. Among other things, your child will benefit by
  • Improving listening and comprehension skills,
  • Increasing vocabulary, and
  • Learning the proper pronunciation of words.
You will be pleasantly surprised by the quality of most children's audiobooks. Many are read by professional actors; some include a full cast.
