See 10 Resolutions for Parents for tips to assist you as raise children who love books and reading. According to "Becoming a Nation of Readers," a national report by the Commission on Reading, "The single most important activity for building the knowledge required for eventual success is reading aloud to children." I always feel jipped. I started reading to my daughter in-vetro and continued daily after birth. She has always had low reading comprehension scores and after 16 years has managed to actually hate reading. HELP
My children enjoyed repetitive lyrical type books to be read aloud to them when when they were toddlers and pre-school age, such as The Gingerbread Man, Strega Nona, Good Night Moon.etc.
When they were older they enjoyed fairy tales and classical adventure stories such as Heidi, Alladin, Sleeping Beauty.
