Children's Book Week in the U.S. and Canada

Thursday November 8, 2007
Children's Book Week will be celebrated in the United States and Canada this month. This is the last year that Children's Book Week in the U.S. will be celebrated the week before Thanksgiving (November 12-18). The Children's Book Council (CBC), which administers the event, has announced that after 2007, the annual event will be moved to May. This year's theme is Rise Up Reading. According to the CBC,
Children's Book Week introduces young people to new authors and ideas in schools, libraries, homes, and bookstores. Through Children's Book Week, the Children's Book Council encourages young people and their care givers to discover the complexity of the world beyond their own experience through books.
TD Canadian Children's Book Week will be celebrated November 17-24. The theme this year is The Magic of Books.
