Looking for Good Beginning Reader Books?

If your child is a beginning reader, you need to know about the Theodor Seuss Geisel Award. The Award, which has been given annually since 2006, recognizes the author(s) and illustrator(s) of outstanding beginning readers. It was named in honor of Theodor Seuss Geisel; his Dr. Seuss beginning readers have delighted children for generations. The 2008 Theodor Seuss Geisel Award Medal winner is There Is a Bird on Your Head!, one of several Elephant & Piggie beginning readers by Mo Willems. The very talented Mo Willems is the author of a number of award-winning children's picture books, including Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale and Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!
