Excitement Builds! September 20 Release of Brisingr

Thursday July 10, 2008
Cover art of Brisingr by Christopher PaoliniTogether, the first two fantasy novels in the Inheritance cycle by Christopher Paolini, Eragon and Eldest, sold 12.5 million copies worldwide. Random House has announced that there will be a first printing of 2.5 million copies of the third book, Brisingr, which will be released September 20, 2008. The publisher has also announced that the series, originally planned as a trilogy, will not end with three books, but with four. Paolini's books have been enormously popular with kids 12 and older, as well as adults. I was reminded of how excited people are about the next book when I visited a local bookstore today and found that they are already taking preorders for Brisingr. Have you or your kids read any of Christopher Paolini's books? Click on "comments" below and share your thoughts about them.

Many students in my 2 elementary schools have loved the first 2 books in the series and are anticipating the next one. Many also saw the movie, Eragon, and said the book was much better. Three cheers for the written word!!

Paolini spins an irresistable yarn here. The fact that he was 15 when he started this project makes it that much more astonishing.

It is a shame the movie had nothing to do with the books…still can’t figure that one out.

This is not just a story for “children” but a wonderful tale of good and evil every that will touch fantasy lovers of every age. Go Chris!

I agree – the books are fantastic, the movie was just okay and so different. It makes you wonder why they bother even making a book into a film if they’re going to completely change everything.

My kids and I have enjoyed books 1 and 2 together, and we are looking forward to number 3.

The books are great reading. The upper grades at our elementary school love them too. The movie was a big disappointment.
