How To Arrange an Author's School Visit

Wednesday October 15, 2008
If you are interested in having a children's book author (or illustrator) visit your child's school, you need to plan ahead. It's definitely worth the time and effort to arrange an author's school visit. Recently, I was reminded of how much children like meeting favorite children's authors when I watched a group of third-graders eagerly listening to storyteller Joe Hayes, the author of The Day It Snowed Tortillas and numerous other children's books, tell stories in English and Spanish. To learn more about some favorite children's books writers and artists, see my articles about children's authors and illustrators. Have you had good (or bad) experiences with author and/or illustrator visits at your school or library? If so, please click on "Comments" below and share them with the Children's Books community. Thanks.

Don’t forget that local authors are often more readily available–and more affordable–than the big names!
