Children's Books Make Good Baby Shower Gifts
Tuesday March 24, 2009
Mother Goose board books and other children's board books make good baby shower gifts. Mother Goose rhymes are very appealing to young children. They find the rhymes and alliteration engaging and humorous. Many of the rhymes are short and easy for young children to learn. Add to that the striking illustrations in many Mother Goose collections, and you can see why even a very young child would enjoy both words and pictures. My three favorite board books to give as baby shower gifts are Tomie's Little Mother Goose by Tomie dePaola, Pat the Bunny, the classic interactive book for little ones by Edith Kunhardt Davies, and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, another classic, a terrific rhyming book by Bill Martin Jr., with illustrations by Eric Carle. Another book that makes a good shower gift is Baby Read-Aloud Basics: Fun and Interactive Ways to Help Your Little Ones Discover the World of Words. Do you ever give children's books as shower gifts? If so, click on "Comments" below and tell me about them. Thanks.(Cover art courtesy of Scholastic)
