Bring on the Poetry! It's National Poetry Month
Wednesday April 1, 2009
In honor of National Poetry Month, along with my regular blogs, I'll be doing some extra blogs about children's poetry books, books for tweens and teens about writing poetry, chidren's poets and other poetry-related topics. If you have an upper elementary or middle school child who is interested in writing poetry, I highly recommend A Writing Kind of Day: Poems for Young Poets by Ralph Fletcher. It's an entertaining collection of poetry written in the voice of a young poet, a boy in middle school. A Writing Kind of Day is also about the creative process of writing poetry. Do any of your kids write poetry? If so, what got them interested? Click on "Comments" below and let me know by posting a message.
