April Is National Autism Awareness Month
Friday April 3, 2009
One of the benefits of National Autism Awareness Month is the number of resources that are available at bookstores each April. That's how I found Ian's Walk: A Story About Autism, a picture book that I recommend for children ages 6-10. The author, Laurie Lears, and the illustrator, Karen Ritz, do a good job of showing what it is like to be an autistic child and what it is like to be an autistic child's sibling.
