How To Use TV, Videos, DVDs and Movies to Promote Reading

Monday April 27, 2009
Thanks to all of you who responded to my question about Turnoff Week. I had more than three dozen reader responses. If you haven't shared your opinion, I hope you will. Many readers mentioned the importance of balance and moderation rather than prohibition. If your child seems much more interested in watching TV or movies than in reading, don't despair. Instead, use TV shows and movies based on children's literature (such as Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo) to promote an interest in reading. See my How to directory for other tips related to children's books.
