Spotlight on Mexican American Author and Poet Pat Mora

Tuesday September 29, 2009
Cover art of the children's book Tomas and the Library Lady Pat Mora, the author of Tomás and the Library Lady and the editor of Love to Mamá: A Tribute to Mothers, is a Mexican American author and poet who has written a number of books for adults and children. There's an interesting feature on Pat Mora on the Reading Rockets Web site. It includes an interview, complete with video clips, a short, annotated booklist with cover art, and a biography. According to the feature,
"Her most common themes are family, Mexican-American culture, and the desert. Since growing up along the border as a second-generation Mexican American, Mora has become a valuable translator between Hispanic and non-Hispanic audiences....Mora’s charming picture books also reach out across cultures. They are available in English and Spanish, but are often bilingual."
