Resources for Veterans Day

Veterans Day honors all of the men and women in the U.S. military and their families for their sacrifices on behalf of the United States of America. As a reminder of all we have to be thankful for, why not share Chris Gall's beautifully illustrated edition of America the Beautiful with your children. If you are looking for a book about remembering those who died in war, I recommend
The Wall by Eve Bunting. This poignant children's picture book is about a visit to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial by a father and his young son. Related Links

With our Pre-K through 3rd graders we used the book “My Daddy is a Soldier” during library time this week of Veterans Day. It was amazing to see just how many children have some connection to the military through family and friends. As we had just donated leftover Halloween candy to the troops, this was a good follow-up story.
