August Calendar of Children's Books

Children's books about school and starting school dominate my August Calendar of Children's Books. Other August events for which I recommend children's books include the birthdays of President Barack Obama, poet Mary Ann Hoberman and author and illustrator Virgina Lee Burton. August 19 is National Aviation Day and the birth date of aviation pioneer Orville Wright. August 25 is the anniversary of the release of the movie version of The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum.
