If you are looking for a Halloween book for a child, check out my list of the Best Halloween Books for Kids. If you're looking for scary stories for 8-12 year olds, I recommend Scholastic's 13 Scary Ghost Stories, edited by Marianne Carus and illustrated with cut paper artwork by Yong Sheng Xuan. This paperback book for intermediate readers is also a good read-aloud. It includes stories by Marion Dane Bauer, Eric A. Kimmel, Susan Price and Aaron Shephard.
