Is your little one apprehensive about going to preschool or kindergarten? If so, introduce her to Lauren Child's delightful picture book I Am Too Absolutely Small For School and Lola, a child who feels the same way. Lola is sure she is "too absolutely small for school," but her older brother Charlie patiently convinces her otherwise by presenting a series of imaginative and funny reasons why she needs to go to school. Not only is the story fun, but Child's illustrations are a delight. With her mixed media artwork, combining photography, watercolors, and collage, Lauren Child creates vibrant and highly entertaining illustrations. Another good book about starting school for you to look for at your local library is Little School, which is about the daily preschool routine of a group of four-year-olds.
This blog post is part of the All About Parenting Blog Carnival. If you're a blogger, write a post between now and July 29 on anything related to kids and parents getting ready to go back to school, and submit it to the blog carnival by July 29.
