Freedom on the MenuBook trailers and author and illustrator interviews seem to be getting more and more popular. For example, readers of Freedom on the Menu: The Greensboro Sit-Ins can learn more about the author and her other books by watching Reading Rockets' video interview with Carole Boston Weatherford. It is one of more than 100 video interviews on that site alone.

As for book trailers, they seem to be everywhere. Many publishers have book trailers on their sites. For example, Macmillan Children's Books, which includes a number of imprints, has playlists of picture book trailers, middle grade book trailers and young adult book trailers on its site. Read my review of the picture book And Then It's Spring and then watch the book trailer.

Mooresville (Indiana) Public Library provides a wide variety of videos about books for children and adults, including their own book trailers for chapter books and book trailers for picture books. Is your library doing anything with book trailers? What about scheduling author visits via Skype? Librarian Jennifer Kendall is a big fan as she writes in Plan An Author Visit Using Skype.
