Author and Illustrator Tomie dePaola

One of my favorite children's book illustrators and authors is the extraordinary Tomie dePaola. He has illustrated close to 250 books for children and also written more than 100 of them. Some of his picture books that I particularly like are -

Oliver Button is a Sissy, a story about bullying and being true to yourself, which is based on dePaola's childhood.

Patrick, Patron Saint of Ireland, the story of St. Patrick and the legends about him

Now One Foot, Now the Other, the poignant story of the love between a little boy and his grandfather, who is recovering from a stroke.
