I've added another book to my annotated list of Award-Winning Historical Fiction for Middle Grade Readers. The dozen books are listed in order by time period, starting with Castle Diary: The Journal of Tobias Burgess, Page, set in 1285. I just added another award-winning book for middle grade readers, Across Five Aprils by Irene Hunt, which is set in southern Illinois in the Civil War era. Other books on the list include Johnny Tremain, set in the Revolutionary War era, and The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate, set in 1899.
