Books about Adoption
Saturday November 15, 2003
The American Baby website has an annotated
list of helpful books to read to your adopted child. The list, from the National Adoption Information Clearinghouse, features more than four dozen children's books.
One of my favorite books on the list is by Canadian author Jean Little. While Emma's Yucky Brother is an entertaining read aloud, I particularly like the fact that it is a chapter book for beginning readers. While there are a lot of picture books about adoption, as well as adoption books for older readers, there are very few for beginning readers.
