Books for a Variety of Winter Holidays
Sunday November 30, 2003
I came across an interesting article from the AScribe newswire, "Experts: Holiday Books for Every Family." The article contains recommendations from several Kansas State University faculty members on books that make good reading for the whole family. According to Phil Nel, assistant professor of English at Kansas State University, "The best books treat their readers like intelligent people and operate on more than one level. They can be enjoyed by adults and children."
There are recommended books for a number of holidays, including Christmas, Kwanzaa, the Hindu ritual of Diwali, and Hanukkah.
For additional recommendations, see my Top Picks lists of Christmas Picture Books, Hanukkah Books, and Kwanzaa Books. We also have a discussion going on the About Children's Books Forum about favorite holiday books, and I hope you will post your family's favorites.recall recall
