After a blog about some of the fathers in children's books, like the father in Marc Brown's Arthur series, I asked for site visitors' favorites.

"In spite of today's enlightened male-female parenting roles, it still seems as if the majority of books for preschool children have the mother as the nurturer or primary care provider. Some men are content with this, but it can be unhealthy for both child and father.
