Learning about the Olympics

Monday July 26, 2004
If you are looking for a good book to use to introduce the Olympics, summer and winter, to younger children, I recommend B.G. Hennessy's book "Olympics!" This softbound picture book is an entertaining and straightforward account for four to eight year olds that I think older children will also enjoy. The colorful artwork by Michael Chesworth ranges from full page scenes of the Olympics to a series of small illustrations depicting individual athletes preparing for the Olympics. Look for the book at your library or local bookstore.

Are there other books about the Olympic Games that you and your children would recommend? If so, please post a message about them on the About Children's Books Forum.
