Teen Tech Week was established in 2007. It is an annual event. Teen Tech Week is a national initiative of YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association), a division of the American Library Association. Teen Tech Week 2012 will be held March 4–10. The 2012 theme is Geek Out @ your library. According to YALSA, "The purpose of the initiative is to ensure that teens are competent and ethical users of technologies, especially those that are offered through libraries such as DVDs, databases, audiobooks, and video games."

During Teen Tech Week, public and school libraries will present a variety of programs. “'In the age of instant access to the Web it is extremely important that teens develop solid information literacy skills,' said Young Adult Library Services Association President Kim Patton. 'Often teens are left guessing what Web content is trustworthy and how much personal information they should share. Education is the key to safe and ethical use of the Web and other technologies, and Teen Tech Week will provide library staff with the opportunity to work with both parents and teens on how to become safe, smart and effective users of technology.'” (Source: 2/15/11 ALA Press Release)

  • March 10-16, 2013
  • March 9-15, 2014
  • March 8-14, 2015.
