Whats New? - Commemorative Edition of a Classic Picture Book
Islandport Press has just published a commemorative edition of The Little Fisherman. The story of a great big fisherman and a little fisherman was originally published in 1945. This delightful book was written by the legendary Margaret Wise Brown, author of Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny, among many other childrens picture books. It was the first children's book illustrated by Maine artist Dahlov Ipcar and features her lively paintings, with a limited palette of bright blue, orange, black, and yellow.Whats Hot? Diary of a Wimpy Kid has been on the New York Times chapter book bestseller list for 57 weeks and is presently in first place. Its sequel, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules has been on the list for 18 weeks and is presently in second place. The Diary of Hugo Cabret, presently in seventh place, has been on the list for 59 weeks.Whats Next? - From Books to Movies
According to a recent School Library Journal article by Joan Oleck, "Author Brian Selznick has expressed confidence that his The Diary of Hugo Cabret is in good hands, with the recent announcement that Ice Age and Robots director Chris Wedge will bring the Caldecott-winning book to the big screen." The release date of the movie has not been announced.In a May 15th news release, Scholastic announced that, Columbia Pictures has acquired from Scholastic Media the right to adapt Scholastics bestselling Goosebumps book series into a theatrical feature. More than 300 million copies of the enormously popular Goosebumps books by R.L. Stine have been sold worldwide; the series has been published in more than 32 languages.
